What lies in the Alpina B6 3.5
Alpina was officially recognised as the automobile manufacturer in 1983. The car manufacturer puts the large-scale six-cylinder engines of the E28 series even for the E-30. The 3.5 litre works engine from the 535i (E 28) provides 211 hp already in its basic version. However that was not enough.
Alpina optimised the engine extensively and changed the combustion chamber, valves, camshaft, connecting rods and pistons (Mahle) in such a way that a breakthrough led to new strengths. The machine 261 hp or 254 hp (Kat-Version) performed in combination with the special exhaust system.
Why Alpina B6 depends on BMW M3
Alpina B6 3.5 drove – compared to the basic product by the BMW E 30 manufacturer – confidently into a new league. In 1986 the six-cylinder top model 325i could be equipped with a maximum of 170 hp and was thereby inferior as far as force is concerned. Even in the areas of acceleration and maximum speed Alpina B6 3.5 was clearly ahead as compared to the sport model BMW M3 (four-cylinder engine and 195 hp).
